Step 2: Learn the 5 Events (2 minutes) Beginner Friendly

Pentarch displays 5 cycle events that appear when specific technical conditions are detected. Each event represents a different phase in the market cycle.

The Early-Cycle Events

🔵 TD (Touchdown) = Early Cycle Warning
What it detects: Early-cycle reversal conditions
Cycle phase: Accumulation - indicates potential cycle beginning

🟢 IGN (Ignition) = Momentum Confirmation
What it detects: Momentum breakout conditions
Cycle phase: Markup - indicates potential trend continuation

The Late-Cycle Events

🟡 WRN (Warning) = Weakening Momentum
What it detects: Weakening momentum conditions
Cycle phase: Distribution beginning - indicates potential trend weakening

🔴 CAP (Climax) = Late-Cycle Exhaustion
What it detects: Late-cycle exhaustion conditions
Cycle phase: Distribution - indicates potential cycle ending

⚫ BDN (Breakdown) = Bearish Breakdown
What it detects: Bearish breakdown conditions
Cycle phase: Markdown - indicates potential downtrend beginning

✅ Knowledge Check

Question: Which Pentarch events are considered "Early-Cycle"?

✅ Knowledge Check

Question: What is the most critical TradingView alert setting for Pentarch?

Step 4: Example Cycle Illustration (1 minute)

Example showing how Pentarch events appear during a market cycle:

Example: Bitcoin Cycle Scenario

Starting Conditions:

Price: $35,000, declining for 2 weeks

The Cycle:

  1. TD appears at $32,500 🔵 — Early-cycle conditions, accumulation beginning
  2. IGN fires at $33,800 🟢 — Momentum confirmed, markup phase begins
  3. WRN appears at $41,500 🟡 — Weakening momentum, distribution warning
  4. CAP fires at $42,800 🔴 — Exhaustion detected, distribution phase

Cycle Movement: Price moved from $32,500 to $42,800 during this cycle

📋 Quick Reference Cheat Sheet

Event Color Cycle Phase What It Detects
TD 🔵 Blue Accumulation Early cycle warning conditions
IGN 🟢 Green Markup Momentum confirmation conditions
WRN 🟡 Yellow Distribution warning Weakening momentum conditions
CAP 🔴 Red Distribution Late-cycle exhaustion conditions
BDN ⚫ Black Markdown Bearish breakdown conditions

🚫 Common Mistakes

Mistake #1: Misunderstanding TD (Blue Event)

❌ Misunderstanding: Treating TD as the primary event

✅ Correct Understanding: TD is an early cycle warning - it indicates accumulation phase conditions

Context: TD indicates early-cycle conditions are developing. IGN provides momentum confirmation.

Mistake #2: Not Using "Once Per Bar Close" for Alerts

⚠️ Important Setup Consideration

❌ Common Error: Alert fires mid-bar, event disappears after bar closes

✅ Correct Setup: Alert set to "Once Per Bar Close" - only confirmed events trigger notifications

How to configure correctly:

  • Delete incorrectly configured alerts
  • Create new ones with "Once Per Bar Close" setting
  • Review the Alert Setup Guide

Mistake #3: Ignoring Key Levels

❌ Without context:Evaluating events without level context
✅ With context:Evaluating events at key price levels

Context matters:

  • Events at key levels have more confluence
  • Events without level confluence have less context
  • Janus Atlas identifies key price levels

Example: - IGN at $50,000 (no level context) → Less confluence - IGN at major support $48,500 → More confluence

Mistake #4: Using Too Low Timeframe Initially

Lower timeframes:5m or 15m charts - more noise, more events
Higher timeframes:Daily or 4H charts - cleaner, clearer events

Context: - Lower timeframes = more noise - More events = harder to learn pattern recognition - Higher timeframes = clearer event patterns

Common learning progression: 1. Daily chart (cleanest events) 2. 4H chart (clear events) 3. 1H chart (moderate) 4. 15m-30m (more experience needed)

Mistake #5: Emotional Decision Making

❌ Emotional:Reacting to outcomes rather than analyzing patterns
✅ Analytical:Reviewing what occurred before continuing

Context: - Emotional decisions affect analysis quality - Not all cycle events lead to expected outcomes - Clear mindset supports better pattern recognition

Mistake #7: Misunderstanding Indicator Limitations

❌ Incorrect: Expecting every event to lead to predicted outcomes ✅ Correct: Understanding that indicators detect conditions, not predict outcomes

Context: - No indicator predicts the future - Events indicate detected conditions, not guaranteed outcomes - Multiple factors affect market behavior

Mistake #8: Skipping Observation Phase

💡 Important for Learning

Without observation:Immediately applying without understanding patterns
With observation:Observing event patterns for 2-4 weeks to build understanding

Learning checklist:

  • ☐ Observe 20+ historical event sequences
  • ☐ Document patterns observed
  • ☐ Note event timing relative to price action
  • ☐ Identify confluence with levels
  • ☐ Achieve profitability over 2-4 weeks

Progression: Many users start with minimum position sizes after paper testing success.

Mistake #10: Overcomplicating with Too Many Indicators

❌ Common Error:Load all 7 Signal Pilot indicators + 10 other indicators on one chart
✅ Simpler Approach:Start with Pentarch, gradually add Janus

Why:

  • More indicators can lead to analysis paralysis
  • Conflicting indicators create confusion
  • Simplicity often provides clarity

Common progression for beginners:

  • Week 1-4: Pentarch only
  • Week 5-8: Pentarch + Janus Atlas
  • Week 9+: Consider adding one more if needed (Volume Oracle or Harmonic)

✅ What's Next?

Master Pentarch:

Add Levels:

  • Janus Atlas Guide - Identify key price levels

Why: Pentarch shows timing, Janus shows levels

Complete System:

💡 Common Best Practices

1. Bar Close Evaluation

  • Signals appear during the bar but only finalize at close
  • "Once Per Bar Close" alerts help avoid repaints

2. Level Confluence

  • IGN at a key support level often shows higher probability
  • Key price levels Identify by Janus Atlas

3. Stop Loss Planning

  • Common stop for bullish setups: Below the TD/IGN candle low
  • Operating without predetermined stops is generally considered high-risk

4. Timeframe Selection

  • Daily chart typically shows cleaner events with less noise
  • Many users start with higher timeframes, then progress to lower ones

5. Single Market Focus

  • Learning one market (e.g., Bitcoin or one stock) before expanding is common
  • Each market has different behavioral characteristics
